That's right, I'm a slacker...

It has been a while since I've blogged, but everyone needs a break.  After helping coach the Southern Lady Rams to the State Semi Finals this past year (we lost by 6, 22-3 overall), and experiencing one of the most grueling winters in memory, it was time to get away.  I hit the Big East Basketball Tournament for the first and last time in the Big Apple in late March. Then Deb and I headed west to our property in LaQuinta, CA for lots of R&R and golf.  Jim Jones and family came out to visit and attend the Coachella Rock Concert.  Daryl Walters and his new bride, Dorothy came for a week.  Rob and Diane Heilig also joined us for a week.  Larry Roth came and Daryl stayed on for the men's only portion of the golf only period.  The weather was warm and dry, and I layed 550 miles on my road bike and I attended a Pirates/Dodger game in LA.

While I was out west, the Deep Creek Lake real estate market showed signs of coming back to life.  Sales and offers were happening with regularity.  With the help of a few of my fellow agents I was very busy from afar.  We are seeing some very good contracts and even multiple offers on a few properties.  Lakefront sales are leading the way, but there is some good lake access and lake area activity as well.  There are some great new listings that have come on the market as well.  I personally have listed some great properties over the past few months. Click here to see all the great properties I have listed.  If you would like more info or to see any of these, please contact me.  If not, feel free to forward these to anyone you know considering Deep Creek.

It's that time of year again!

Welcome Spring to Deep Creek Lake!

Officially, the calendar reads Spring, however, the weather isn't registering Spring just yet.  But on the bright side, if you are a skier, you can enjoy an extended ski season at Wisp Resort! If you happen to be a bird watcher, we keep seeing signs of spring, the robins are back in abundance, but I'm sure they aren't enjoying the winter weather any more than the Deep Creek Lake locals are! And, yes, if you are headed our way this week, the weather man is calling for snow overnight as well as something this weekend, however we aren't sure whether it will be in the form of snow or rain yet. But don't dismay, there is plenty to do no matter what the weather man says!  In the meantime, just to get you in the Springtime mood, enjoy...

Winter hangs on at Deep Creek Lake!  And, so is basketball season!

March is upon us and winter shows no signs of giving up.  I have spoken to various people at Wisp who tell me that they are having one of the best seasons ever.  They had record weekends on at least 2 occasions.  That is obviously a great thing for all businesses in Garrett County and Deep Creek Lake.  The Deep Creek Dunk was also a huge success last weekend from all reports.  Nice job Bill Ingram and the entire staff at Unos!  

A few weeks ago Bonnie Butler from Railey Realty organized a blood drive that was held at the college.  Many of us at Railey participated.  Great job Bonnie.  

The real estate market has shown some signs of progree over the past few weeks as activity has increased.  Record low interest rates and attractive pricing are reasons to buy now.  Please fee free to contact me if I can be of any assistance!

Anyone who knows me, knows I am a coach with the Southern Garrett Lady Rams staff.  They also know I love helping the kids and spending time with my 2 daughters who participate.  The varsity team has had a dream season this year with a 21-2 record.  Today we have the opportunity to earn a berth in the State Tournament if we can win our 3rd round playoff game against North Carroll at North Hagerstown High School.

What's happening this weekend?

If you plan on being at Deep Creek Lake this weekend, remember that it's Dunk Weekend! The 15th Annual Deep Creek Dunk will take place on Saturday afternoon behind Uno's, so if you are traveling in the area, please be patient as there will be extra traffic around the Arrowhead/Uno's area!  If you will be on the Lake this week, keep in mind there will be open water by the Uno's area as well - be safe!

On a side note, if you are planning on visiting Swallow Falls State Park, keep in mind that because of the extensive damage caused by Hurricane Sandy, some of the trails are closed for safety reasons. The Park is still beautiful covered in snow and there is still plenty to do, but be mindful of the closed areas - again, be safe!  Here is a shot taken last week from the overlook above Muddy Creek Falls:
